At home and abroad, Alpina is famous for both athletic and fashion footwear. Alpina first started making shoes and boots in 1947 and, ever since, its craftsmen and scientists have kept abreast of all the new developments in the world of high-quality sports and fashion footwear. In the past, both programs have faced great challenges and always proved themselves equal to them. When developing Alpina footwear, our designers devote a great deal of attention to comfort, craftsmanship, the careful selection and use of materials, new advances in technology, and the latest fashion trends.

With their fresh ideas and new discoveries, the Alpina R&D Team have contributed greatly to the development of our sports boots in particular. Well-known athletes, too, have taken part in the development of Alpina's cross-country ski boots by sharing the benefit of their experience. Our new cross-country boot for skating, SK 2002, is the result of our scientific analysis of cross-country skating technique. For skating, lateral stability is essential. A boot's good lateral stability will help you set the ski on the inner edge in the last phase of the skating step. We have developed a new heel counter and the new ASC active cuff, which, because of their new positioning, are able to provide the ankle with exceptional lateral stability.

This winter we are introducing a new women's and men's downhill ski boot. In addition to a number of technical innovations and improvements, this boot is distinguished, in both women's and men's models, by the bold contours of its contemporary design. All functions and details of the new boot have been carefully made to conform to the latest skiing techniques. In crafting the new boot for women, Alpina's engineers and designers have paid special attention to the particular features of the woman's foot. The women's models, then, differ from the men's in terms of height, volume, and the firmness of the shell and cuff.

The designers of our fashion footwear have taken advantage of the most contemporary and comfortable materials in creating the Autumn Winter 2008/09 Alpina Collection. Fashion trends today dictate simplicity and sportiness.  Current models are defined by new silhouettes, polished smooth leather, brilliant patent leather and creased patent leather. Black, mineral grey, shiny and dramatic metallic or saturated dark colours set the fashion tone.   All these trends have been captured in Alpina's women's and men's fashion collection.
