Red dot award: product design
In 2008 Alpina received the prestigious international Red dot design award. The award was given for the Nordic racing boots ECS and ECL that are a result of the combined efforts of the industrial designer Jure Miklavc, the head of the development of Nordic ski boots Robert Križnar and the design studio Kabinet 01.
The Red dot award has been handed out since 1955 and is considered to be one of the most important international design awards. The competition is organised by the Design Centrum Nordrhein Westfalen from Essen, Germany. The Red dot design award confirms the innovativeness as well as the technological and design supremacy of the products. This year the expert jury considered 3203 applications from 51 countries and selected 676 winners.
Alpina boots for the Nordic classic (ECL) and skate technique (ECS)
The boots are made for top competitors in Nordic skiing and biathlon as well as all those Nordic skiers who strive to perfection and desire merely the best. They are distinguished by their minimalist design that is applied to the spat of the shoe under which the inner shoe is hidden. The spat covers the surface of the boot completely and ensures water resistance as well as a perfect fit. The inner shoe is distinguished by the new lacing system, high quality materials and a foothold that is designed to the specifics of an individual competitor. The uncompromisingly supreme boot ensures exceptional stability and a good transfer of power from the foot to the ski, without any loss of energy.
